Updating vs. Replacing Your Old Gas Fireplace
Older gas fireplaces are typically removed and replaced with a new gas fireplace. Occasionally, cosmetic updates can be made to an existing gas fireplace (such as painting brass and adding new media/rocks), but only if the fireplace is in good working condition. For gas fireplaces more than 10-15 years old, we recommend a tear out and replacement rather than cosmetic short-tern fixes.

Gas fireplaces were introduced in the early 1990’s, and quickly became the indoor fireplace of choice because of their ease of use and efficiency. If your home was built in the 90’s or 2000’s, chances are it has an older gas fireplace installed.
You’ll be surprised at all the modern advancements in today’s gas fireplaces. Many brands now offer Wi-Fi or Bluetooth enabled controls, allowing you to remotely use and monitor your fireplace.
